Picture windows are beautiful in a home but not if they’re making you feel like you’re living in a fish bowl. Plus, those dreaded verticals have gotten on your last nerve with their clicking and clacking. Verticals are the only thing that will come big enough for that window though, right? Wrong. With the new year right around the corner, now is a good time to do some updating and get the look you really love.

If you love the light control that a blind offers then you have a few options. Your first option is to change over to fabric verticals. They still give you a curtain look while being much quieter when they blow around. Another option is to switch to horizontal blinds. One inch mini blinds are a good choice since they are lightweight. They will most likely need to be aluminum which will allow you to have a greater selection of colors. If you would prefer vinyl, faux wood, or real wood, they have an advantage to come as 2-on-1 or 3-on-1. What this gives you is one solid head-rail and valance with two or three blinds hanging from them. 2-on-1 or 3-on-1’s are a perfect option for double or triple windows. You’ll want to avoid getting these materials in one large blind due to their weight. Hanging from your blinds to lift them up is not a sport you’ll want to participate in.

Lastly, if you want to make a drastic change, consider honeycomb or pleated shades. They’re a great option for big windows because they are lightweight and can come in a variety of styles and colors. Plus, honeycombs can help keep your electric bill lower thanks to their energy saving abilities. No matter what you do, just remember that there are solutions to get rid of the noisy verticals that drive you crazy.
