By Steven M.

While many people run inside to avoid the side effects that come with summer, decorating the inside of your home with summer in mind is a great idea. Freshening the look of your home based on the season is a great way to keep your decor from getting stale or boring, making every day bright and fun. Using bold colors to splashy prints, a few easy decor updates can make your home feel like a summer getaway. Plus, summer is the season for entertaining, bot inside and out.

Summer is the perfect time to try and incorporate floral prints into your decor. From rugs and shower curtains to  throw pillows and curtains, it’s easy to add a pop of nature to any room in your house, without having to worry about watering and maintaining it. However if you feel inclined and able to take care of plants, this would also be a great idea to add to your home. Fresh flowers allow not only color but also the feeling of nature within the walls of your house.

In addition to floral print, adding bold textures to your home can also give the feeling of summer. Burlap and linen are popular choices for this , giving a beachy feel to any room, who wouldnt wanna feel like they’re at the beach even while in their own living room. Anything utilizing natural fibers , such as wicker, is another way to incorporate texture into your space. All of these elements make for a relaxed and casual feel. These days a room without color or texture is simply unheard of , regardless of the season.

No matter your decor style updating for the seasons is a great way to keep your decor in style.  Swapping our a few elements can be a fast and easy way to make your home feel new and in line with the seasons.  Summer is a great time to add different textures new colors or patterns. Any chance to add freshness and life such as plants are perfect for this time of year as well.

Spring on a Budget

SPRING ON A BUDGET

What better reason to change the interior decor of your home than the ever changing season that we have in our country, instead of despising it, we all just have to spring forward and shake off those winter blues. There are surefire ways to refurbish our homes in a very minimal way so that we can keep up and be in the mood to welcome spring. Here are a few items you can definitely change or add without having the need to break the bank.
ADD SOMETHING OF “NATURE” IN YOUR INTERIOR
Putting houseplants are not just adding greenery in your living space but also increase oxygen level, purifies the air, and improve your health and focus. Adding the plants can give you a fresh spring feel.
FRESH WINDOW TREATMENT
Floral-patterns, colorful, and bright window treatments are also an update that can definitely change the way you look into your home. There are plenty of pretty Roman and Roller soft shades that can give you the vibrant spring-look. Try the paisley and chevron patterns, for a very minute but colorful details.
FLORAL ART DISPLAYS
If you are not as bold yet as holding the brush and painting an entire wall or even just an accent wall, why not decorate by hanging some floral paintings? You can experiment on size and colors, and you can definitely change up these items for every season.
The right accessories are equally important as all the elements in any home. Small things matter.

Spring Decor

Spring Decor

Time to brighten up your décor! Spring is finally here, the snow is gone, and it’s time to bring the bright colors and sunshine back into your house!!

You can officially take down all of the heavy drapery, and all of the other “keep warm” solutions you had hung on your windows. If you feel like bringing in some color, grab some fun patterned or printed curtain panels – that just hang stationary on the sides of the windows – and don’t block out the view. The trend for 2016 is pattern – floral patterns are extremely popular, and bright bold colors.

Also time to put away all of the heavy blankets, from the beds and in the living areas. Put them away for the spring/summer, and take out the lighter weight ones. If you need new ones, make sure to grab colorful, light weight designs – that serve more as decoration than warmth. It is always a good time of year to grab some new throw pillows – this is an easy way to bring in the trend of the year without making a big investment in the décor.

Try to bring the outside inside. Not just through colorful patterns, but bring in some flowers or plants. Take inventory of the plants you have left from last year – if they are just barely hanging on – bring the old ones outside – sometimes they come back to life when they are outside. Ask at the store – some variety of plants are far less maintenance than others – don’t get anything that will require too much upkeep! It’s also a great time of year to pick up some flowers and fill the vases that sat empty all winter.

It’s always amazing how small changes can make a huge impact at this time of the year. And my favorite part of spring is it’s all about color! You’ll see it when you are shopping for new spring clothes, so why now dress up your house while you are at it!!

By: Nariah K.

Bring spring floral to your wood blinds by adding some floral like fabric tapes! I can understand how some people may think having a shade or blind full of floral patterns can be overwhelming to the look or theme of your room, however, I have the solution. Adding a touch of floral to your wood blinds might do the trick. We have many fabric tapes for wood blinds to give your room the perfect spring touch. Some really lovely fabric tape ideas, which are my personal favorites, would include the Valencia Green and Valencia Brown. They are so versatile, would look good anywhere, and are perfect for living rooms, family rooms, and kitchens.

Everyone knows the age-old saying, “April showers, bring May flowers.” This five letter phrase brings light to the fact that the month of April will make you bring out the rain boots, but come May, you will see that enduring the rain was worth it. With the coming of spring and summer, the grass begins to shine bright green and the brittle grass and bushes become beautiful and bright flowers. No matter if your young or old, we all enjoy the view of some pretty flowers. But why not bring that same outdoor beauty inside?

Floral Bathroom?

By: Karen

Bath-Pleat_015I went shopping the other day, and found a floral shower curtain, that I absolutely fell in love with.  I know, most people probably don’t feel quite so strongly about shower curtains, but I really liked it. Taking a step back, I currently have a white shower curtain, with tiny light blue circles all over it, which, if you didn’t stop to stare, are so subtle you probably wouldn’t notice (and that is representative of my entire decorating style).

Apartment Update

SOLIDT_Blue-1202B

By: Karen

I went through a phase about a year ago where I really was in love with the new, clean, modern look.  I redid my entire living room, from top to bottom with this in mind.  I guess it really was a good thing, because the modern feel does not allow for any clutter, so it really forced me to clean and get rid of a lot of unnecessary things I had collected over the years.  But, a year later, I’m kind of bored.  I went with all neutral colors, beige couches, and dark wood furniture, and it’s really not an exciting place to spend time.
