Florals – I think not….

By: Anthony008_p92_012

Have you ever gone shopping for blinds with your significant other? I haven’t had that privilege yet. But, as a design consultant, I’ve seen a lot of debates over window treatments. One of the biggest is over floral patterns. I don’t understand why people are so obsessed with floral patterns. When I think of florals, they remind me of my grandma’s house. My grandma’s couch, lampshades, area rug, throw pillows, and wallpaper were all different floral prints. I think they are old fashioned, and don’t even get me started on the colors they usually come in. I remember seeing them in avocado green prints with off-white backgrounds, not flattering to any room they were put in.

How To Go Floral & Keep Your Mancave, A Mancave

By: Gina rosalie_white_019

It’s Spring and you’re looking for new window treatments for your most comfortable (and sacred) of spaces, your man cave.  You’ve had a plain one dimensional shade or blind there for what seems like an eternity, but the woman in your life keeps urging you to do something a little different, something that she can live with too.  It seems like you’ve reached an impasse.  There’s no way you’re putting the rosy colored floral patterned shade she’s picked out for the space, but she’s not budging on keeping the status quo either.

To covet coventry

By: AishaVV3-622

My indoor sunroom is my get-a-way from the hustle and bustle of every day city life. It’s an enclosure that provides me with space and absolute comfort. A place where I can unwind. It’s been a while since I have had anything new on the windows. With the changing of seasons I had decided to change out the blinds. The old ones I used to have had turned dingy and grey. They were cheap one inch vinyl blinds. They served there purpose by allowing me to have my privacy and being cost effective at the same time. They were also relatively easy to clean. When starting my search for the perfect product I kept this in mind. I wanted something different that would be able to have all the same functionalities, but provide me with a new look.

Ballet, The Way to a Dancers Heart

By: Aishaballet_beige_018

My husband and I finished remodeling our sunroom about a week ago. It has three windows which face the street and two that face the side of the house. During the day the sun pours through the room at such an intensity that it has begun to ruin all of our furniture. Our furniture is also made from black leather so it attracts the heat even more. It gets so hot, that we cant even sit down on our couches without almost melting to it and forget about trying to get up from them. It’s like being super glued down. The carpet is also beginning to fade. So our main concern for the room is to cover our windows as quick as possible.

The Floral Pattern – Not Just For Grandma’s House!

By: Carrie

DETAILOFOFFICE

As far as patterns go, nothing is more timeless than a floral pattern. You’ll find it in the everything from classic Victorian homes to the most modern decor. It is simple, yet elegant.
And yet it seems to get a bad rep these days. Many first-time homeowners are under the impression that floral designs are old-fashion. “It looks like it belongs in my grandma’s house,” is something we hear quite often these days.

Floral Stereotypes

By: AshleyCameo White paneltrack 2

Florals are feminine

They don’t have to be. Of course pale muted hues in pink are very girly, but florals are hardly limited to this stereotype. To avoid the feminine floral, stay away from small prints and faded colors. Add masculine pieces to the room. Leather and wood furniture create a more rustic feel. Or stick to a neutral color scheme.

Floral Options

By: Jessica

rosalie_white_019One can incorporate a hint of floral into their decor while maintaining a consistent look by combining different styles of the same fabric or pattern.

In more open-concept spaces where it might be hard to divide the areas while still maintaining a uniform look throughout, using similar patterns in different contexts open up possibilities for window treatments.

Fabric Roller Shades for the Great Room

by: Dominic

versailles_dtail_003

I was planning a family get together about a month ago for our grand parents anniversary party. In the process of cleaning up the house I realized that the old dust collectors also known as mini blinds in the great room needed to be replaced. My wife and I wanted to go with something that was somewhat formal looking and also grea
t quality. We decided that a product that would be easy to clean would best fit our needs as well. We only had a week to prepare before the big day came so we were running low on time. I knew that with the look I wanted to go with that my only option would be to order the shades custom. One company told me that I could place an order with them but the shades wouldn’t be ready for three weeks! Another company told me the same thing, they also had outrageous prices.
