Do’s & Don’ts for Cordless

Nowadays, homeowners have more options than ever before when it comes to window treatments: wood blinds, faux wood blinds, aluminum blinds, shutters, honeycomb shades; the list goes on and on! It’s not just the style and materials that homeowners have to consider though. The right lift system can make all of the difference. Just as there are many different styles of window treatments, there are also many different styles of lift systems. Each is unique and provides users with vastly different functionality. The lift system everyone is talking about today is cordless lift.

Cordless lift eliminates – you guessed it – all cords and it allows you to raise and lower your shade with the smooth operation. Besides the added safety factor, this unique functionality also offers several other benefits as well. For starters, cordless window treatments are easy to operate. Simply lift up and down. Then, of course, aesthetic appeal. Cordless window coverings give your windows a more streamlined, modern look that is sure to compliment your home decor. No more cords to try and hide. No more cords for your dog or cat to play with and ultimately ruin your window treatments. No more cords to…well, just no more cords. Period. Sleek, easy to use, and safe, cordless is the future of window coverings.

Cordless lift systems are available for a wide variety of blinds and shades to bring both convenience and clean lines. The cordless mechanisms make your home décor look elegant and modern. Not many people want all these different cords hanging and looking busy on their windows. It makes it easier for cleaning the window treatments and when you’re ready to clean your windows there won’t be multiple cords to get tangled together and eventually not operable. I’ve found that kids also are able to work their shades or blinds easily with the cordless lifts. Otherwise, kids would just try to tug at their window treatments and then eventually snap the cord or something goes wrong where they break their window covering itself.

Seeing the View with Sunweaves

Seeing the View with Sunweaves

It’s a beautiful warm and breezy Saturday summer morning, you’re sitting at the breakfast table in the cottage, and the fresh smell of recently brewed coffee surrounds you. You breathe in the smell deeply, you feel the warmth from the mug in your hands, and inhale intensely after each sip of fragrant French roast.  You smile and look up from the mug, squinting unpleasantly, trying to see what would normally be the beautiful image of the lake through your large picture window that just happens to get the full, hot, blasting, east sun in the morning hours.

On the Cellular Level: Light Filtering vs. Blackout and Their Options

By: AishaCL-synergy_antiqueWhite

When it comes to cellular shades, what is the go-to option? Well there are a few different options to have.  For instance, cellulars come in light filtering or blackout. Light filtering is typically used when you want to have light in the room but maintain privacy. Blackout, on the other hand, is used to achieve complete darkness. Most people would use light filtering for rooms such as living, dining, and kitchen rooms; anyplace you’d find a large gathering of people. Blackout is mainly used in areas you might want to keep dark, such as a bedroom or TV room to keep the glare of the sun off of the screen.

I’m All Grown Up Now I Must Buy Blinds

By: Erica

Imagine you have just moved into your first place. Gone are the days of your childhood bedroom, dorm rooms, and apartments. This place belongs to you, and with that ownership comes a lot of things you never thought about before.
The windows are bare and you are painfully aware of how little privacy you have. This is not an apartment where blinds come already installed and you decide you are too mature to hang a sheet from the window with pushpins. You want something nice, something grown up, something elegant. You consider window treatments. Should you buy shutters, curtains, or blinds? You have no idea, so you make a list of things you want from your window treatment, ultimate privacy, inexpensive, and easy to install. You walk around your new place and feel the draft from the windows. You add “protects against heat and cold” to your list. You also notice the heavy layer of dust that has collected on the window sills and you want to sneeze just looking at it. You add “doesn’t collect dust” to your list. Then you remember that you like to sleep late on the weekend and you add “shuts out light” to your list as well. You get in the car and drive to your local home improvement store to see if you can find something that meets your criteria.
